Image of the Season

Early on I realized the importance of self-assignments. Not just to keep skills sharp, but to see that images are happening everywhere, all the time. The potential for natural design is infinite.

As my parents dahlia garden approached 250 varieties, I decided to take a closer look. Here is a link to a selection of:

Mostly Dahlias >

Last October, while on my way home, I decided on the spur of the moment, to detour up a river valley to see what the fall color was like. I found a few locations I liked. At one, while photographing from a bridge, a car stopped and asked if I knew of any trails in the area. I explained how to get to a couple they were very close to. Before they drove off they mentioned they had seen a lot of salmon in the next river valley to the north. I wanted to check it out, but was running out of daylight. So when I told Jane about it we decided to go up there the next day. This is one of the images we found.
